Article Review: '8 Ways PMs Can Build Resilience in the Project Economy'

Updated: Apr 10

In the face of sudden and unpredictable challenges, whether they arise in our professional roles as project managers or touch our personal lives, #resilience becomes an invaluable asset. Such challenges can be as diverse as navigating a complex project environment or confronting a severe and unexpected illness. In these situations, our ability to adapt and respond proactively is put to the test.

From my personal experience, building resilience often begins with seeking reliable sources of knowledge to gain a technical background and the confidence to ask important questions, especially when making critical decisions. It provides us with a firm foundation and enhances our overall stability. Equally important is cultivating a strong network that allows for the exchange of insights, specialist support, counseling, and emotional assistance. Such a network is essential when we are not the primary actors responsible for diagnosing and resolving issues. It empowers us to contribute positively and increases the chances of a successful outcome.

For me, these principles lie at the heart of resilience. In the face of extreme circumstances, access to information and support from others makes us stronger, reshapes our perspectives, and fuels personal growth.

On this vital subject, Antonio Nieto-Rodriguez's article offers valuable insights into building resilience in the project economy. It gives examples of personalities who thrived in the face of adversities and provides practical examples of how project managers can build resilience in a rapidly changing world, including integrating emerging technologies like AI. I recommend everyone reading, not only project managers, as the points presented can benefit all professionals.
