Here's another read that was well worth it, aimed at tireless minds. "Stop Overthinking: 23 Techniques to Relieve Stress, Stop Negative Spirals, Declutter Your Mind and Focus on the Present," by Nick Trenton.
I acquired this book after reading another interesting post by Ricardo Viana Vargas, Ph.D., which highlighted one of the self-control techniques presented by the author, called 5-4-3-2-1.
In addition to this technique, the book reflects on the origins and consequences of our thoughts and behaviors, leading to overthinking.
Self-awareness is the starting point.
I'll briefly mention some other points (not limited to the following) brought up by the author:
Techniques for managing stress and anxiety, such as the 4As (Avoid, Alter, Accept, and Adapt), the use of stress diaries (for notes and analysis on triggers and reactions to them), and gratitude journals;
Time management aspects and setting SMART goals (very familiar to project managers!);
Practices for reducing anxiety, such as autogenic training, visualization techniques, muscle relaxation, reprogramming thought patterns, and behavioral experiments. In this aspect, I found the use of the ABC Model (Antecedent, Behavior, and Consequence) interesting and simple to understand the connections between these three components;
Reflections on emotional regulation, including those related to defining focus, such as what you can and cannot control (clearly drawing from "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" regarding the Circle of Influence and Circle of Concern).
And the final message: live in the present. A hook to think more about Mindfulness.
